Poker.com.au – for all your poker needs

The domain market proves once again to be a hot topic these days with 888.com purchase of Australian poker domain poker.com.au for $100,000. According to experts in the industry this domain is consider to be a “bargain” in compare to equivalent sales made in other countries. David Lye, from NetFleet explains that the regulations made years ago, prohibits the advertising of online gambling services in Australia.

Theoretically, no website in Australia can advertise online gambling services and also for those braking the law, penalties are large; however, the law does not restrict Australians from using these services.
All facts point to the speculation that without the prohibiting laws, the domain price could have been ten times greater holding the legislation responsible for this. A year ago a similar sale was made in Canada, where regulations are not that tight, poker.ca was sold for $400,000. Now, Canada has one and a half times the Australian population, and yet the price is four times greater.

Legalizing online gambling advertising wouldn’t only increase the value of related domains, but it will also increase tax revenue. Lye explains, that online gambling it’s a very luxurious field on the website, legalizing it will allow access to poker rooms which simultaneously will increase tax revenue by hundreds of millions per year. But so far it seems that restrictions will continue.

888 Holdings holds many gambling sites worldwide. poker.com.au currently post a message saying: “The Poker Guide that will change the way you think about poker, play poker and even dream your hand in poker is coming soon with all the features that you’ll want and all the bonuses and special offers that you’re looking for.”
